Scholarship Opportunity for AASECT Members

The Creating Community Scholarship fund was created to aid in overcoming obstacles that may prohibit those from attending the AASECT Annual Conference.

One (1) Scholarship Available to Cover:
Full conference registration (Pre-conference workshops not included).
Accommodation for 3 nights at the conference hotel.

Eligibility:

Graduate students and emerging sexuality professionals who are active AASECT members and can demonstrate financial need in one or more of the following situations:

• Facing financial challenges in attending AASECT’s Annual Conference.
• Residing in an area with limited or no access to support for sexuality educators, counselors, or therapists.
• Residing in an area with limited to no representation of racial, ethnic, or diverse sexuality educators, counselors, or therapists.
• Applicants must hold a prerequisite degree (minimum Bachelor’s level) relevant to careers in the field of human sexuality, sexuality education, sexuality counseling, sex therapy, sex research, sexology or sexual health.

Application Materials:

An essay demonstrating the need for scholarship based on the criteria above. Please include mention of your commitment to pursuing a career in the field of human sexuality, sexuality education, sexuality counseling, sex therapy, sex research or sexual health, and how this scholarship award would help accomplish your personal career goals.

(Optional): Two letters of recommendation documenting one’s commitment to the field of human sexuality, sexuality education, sexuality counseling, sex therapy, sex research or sexual health. If you are unable to get the letters, please state that in your application and you will still be considered for the scholarship. *If you are unable to get the letters, you will still be considered for the scholarship.

Scholarship Opportunity for AASECT Members and Non-Members

The focus and purpose of the AASECT Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (JEDI) Committee Scholarships is to increase conference access to underrepresented groups within AASECT.

According to the AASECT membership demographics survey, the most underrepresented populations within AASECT are: Trans, Non-Binary, and/or gender diverse people, those under 24 years old, BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color), people living with disabilities, Sexuality Educators, and those with annual household incomes of less than $80k.

The DEI and scholarship selection committee has placed an intentional focus on supporting those with multiple intersections of the aforementioned identities.

10 Scholarships are Available to Cover:

• Full conference registration (Pre-conference workshops not included).

5 Scholarships are Available to Cover:

• Full conference registration (Pre-conference workshops not included).
• Accommodation for 3 nights at the conference hotel + $250.00 travel stipend

Eligibility:

Identify as one or more of the following:

• Trans/Non-Binary/Gender-diverse
• 24 years old or younger
• BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color)
• A person living with a disability
• A sexuality educator
• Someone with a household income of less than $80k.
• Demonstrable involvement in diversity, equity, and/or inclusion within the context of sexuality education, counseling, therapy, or advocacy, or express intentions to engage in such work.
• Previous volunteering for AASECT is appreciated but not required.
• Available to AASECT Members and Non-Members
