Connecting with Sex Workers: A Strengths-Based Liberationist Approach in Educational and Clinical Interventions with Sex Workers
Sarah Burnette Hemphill, (she/her) is a psychotherapist who specializes in affirming sex workers and other populations historically marginalized in therapy. In addition supporting clients from a liberationist perspective, Sarah co-leads the Chicago Sex Worker Support Group, teaches at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology, and writes and speaks on the need to challenge professional biases. Sarah is a LCSW and holds a MA Social Justice, with a background in medical social work, bioethics, and feminist healthcare. She gets excited about challenging the social role of clinicians, and believes in the radical idea that clients are people who probably know best about their own lives.
